Join a well-established European Reinsurer with an ambitious footprint in Asia, as their APAC Head of Medical Underwriting and Claims. The successful candidate will come with a proven track record of leadership in developing and executing on strategies and achieving tangible results.

Key Responsibilities include: 
  • Team Management-  Leading and developing an existing team of underwriters and claims managers.
  • Medical Underwriting- Provide underwriting expertise to ensure sustainability of products, consider risk and medical advancement perspectives, as well as balance efficient underwriting rules.
  • Claims Management- ensure high quality claims assessmen, conduct quality assurance checks. 
  • Client facing - Get involved in external client conversations. Contribute towards Product Innovation. 
  • Working with multi-functions (BD, Actuarial/Pricing etc), across various countries/regions. Your role will be communicating internally with global teams. 
  • Thought Leadership- engaage in life and health insurance propositions via client meetings, conferencees and forums.

Key Requirements and Competencies: 
  • Life/Medical Underwriting professionals with over 20 years experience in the life and health insurance and/or reinsurance industry.
  • Track record of leadership, preferably in managing teams across multiple functions.
  • A strong balance of technical excellence and commercial acumen
  • Business development/client facing experience
  • Well-rounded knowledge and expertise around products, distribution and underwriting.
  • Strong communicator- Your ability to explain complex technical issues in a clear and simple manner.
  • Ability to communicate at a business level, both verbally and written, in English and an additional language (used in Asia) is highly desirable.
