My client is a leading ASX listed Consumer/Digital Bank, offering a full suite of innovative products to the Australian market.  Due to an internal move, a role has been created for a Financial Accountant to join the Group Finance team on a 9 month fixed term contract.  The role will take ownership of the financial control and statutory reporting obligations, for a number of key entities within the banking division. 

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Ensuring accurate completion of all reporting requirements for month end and other key reporting periods.
  • Review of financial statements for the bank, trust vehicles and subsidiaries, including analysis and effective management of queries from management, Group, auditors and other stakeholders.
  • Review of half and full year reporting pack for submission to Group.
  • Ensure the integrity of the data in the general ledger.
  • Preparation of results pack for presentation to the Board.
  • Act as the subject matter for all accounting and reporting requirements under AASB and IFRS associated with new business transactions.
  • Drive process and system change on an ad-hoc basis.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • CA / CPA qualified with 3+ years experience gained in the financial services sector, ideally with some direct experience in the banking sector.
  • Proven technical accounting skills - sound knowledge of IFRS accounting standards (IFRS 9 highly regarded).
  • Big 4 CA 1st mover with specific audit exposure to the Financial Services / Banking industry.
  • Working knowledge of financial products (including derivatives and fixed income products) will be highly regarded.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a results driven environment coupled with a flair for identifying weaknesses and driving process change and automation
