Our client is a professional services group (financial & legal) on an ambitious growth journey. They are looking for a Group Finance Director to work with the Board, investors and divisional business leaders. The post holder will be a key member of the leadership team as well as lead the finance function, providing commercial support and challenge. This is an ideal position to contribute to a strategically focused growth plan, whilst having some M&A exposure. The company has its head office in the East Midlands with several regional offices (including in London). This is a hybrid role with good flexibility on working patterns.


Here's a bit more on what you can expect to be doing day-to-day:


  • Board and management reporting, analysis and presentation of results to the leadership team.
  • Provide commercial and strategic support and decision making across all business services, looking at new areas of growth.
  • Partnering the CEO and the leaders of key functions including Operations, Marketing and HR to support the growth and provide challenge and support where necessary.
  • Managing and developing the day-to-day finance function
  • Ensure the finance reporting is best in class, fully compliant and provides meaningful commentary for senior leadership.
  • Look to further develop the KPI reporting and produce comprehensive financial analysis, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks to drive informed business decisions.
  • Supporting acquisitions and integrations.
  • Overall responsibility for statutory reporting and tax compliance.
  • Ensuring strong governance, control and processes, looking to minimise risk.
  • Ensuring the finance function meets the Group and investor reporting requirements.
  • Leading and managing the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Oversight of the accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring robust cash control and risk management.
What you need:


  • You will be a fully qualified accountant, with excellent leadership and commercial skills.
  • Experience of working within a growth/group organisation, ideally with exposure to M&A
  • Experience within people-centric businesses would be advantageous.
  • Ability to build an effective finance function –developing the team.
  • Track record of partnering and supporting key stakeholders.
  • Hands on, roll your sleeves up approach
  • Inquisitive and track record of problem solving, identifying and delivering tangible improvements.
  • Confident and clear communicator, with the gravitas and credibility to work with senior stakeholders and provide challenge and support.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly

Experience of a similar industry would be advantageous.
