The Role

This is a dynamic and varied role with a Big4 Australian Bank that requires a proactive individual, who will be given an in-depth exposure to all aspects of running a successful product. From a very early stage in your career you will be making business critical decisions to assist the business in formulating commercial strategies. 


Responsibilities

 

  • Develop in depth understanding of the Every Day Banking products and services that the bank provides, and proactively monitor the associated risks

  • Extract, manipulate and analyse data; code and extract data for product analytics using Teradata SQL, Ms Excel, Ms Access and other tools, to make quantitative and qualitative decisions for risk identification

  • Periodically review behaviours of the client base, deliver detailed analysis to provide deeper understanding of usage of the product to help inform strategy going forward

  • Liaise with internal clients to understand their requirements, suggest ways to improve targeting and provide analysis of the customer base

  • Back up other team members and quality check produced by the team 


Requirements

 

 

  • Strong mathematical background, with a tertiary degree preferably in an analytical field such as mathematics or statistics

  • Interest in all major retail banking products, with an in-depth knowledge of consumer deposits a significant plus

  • Business acumen: has experience in a product analytics environment; has a nose for business, uses insights to impact commercial drivers

  • Strategic and analytical mind: takes a long-term view and anticipates future trends and implications

  • Drive results: is highly energised and motivated to achieve results that impact the bottom line

  • Communication: effective and successful when presenting data and insights to a variety of internal and external key stakeholders

  • Accountable: takes ownership for the delivery of tasks and projects, setting own priorities and managing deadlines

  • Advanced SQL is essential; Python and R are favourable
