Ethos BeathChapman are partnering with a leading ASX200 Financial Services group.  My client is looking to appoint a high performing Senior Financial Accountant to take ownership of the financial control and statutory reporting obligations, for a number of key entities within the group.

Job purpose: 
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring the Bank’s financial control and statutory reporting requirements are met. You will continuously look to develop systems and controls, enabling timely, efficient and accurate reporting to executive management. Your primary focus will be to manage the general ledger, reporting and analysis for the key banking entities.

Role type:
Full time position. Flexible work environment (3 days office / 2 days WFH)

Key deliverables: 
My client is looking to appoint a high performing Senior Financial Accountant to take ownership of the financial control and statutory reporting obligations, for a number of key entities within the group.  Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring accurate completion of all reporting requirements for month end and other key reporting periods.
  • Manage operational accounting processes to ensure the daily integrity and governance of the ledger for reporting and analytic requirements.
  • Preparation of the banks financial statements and Group reporting packs.
  • Ensure the integrity of the data in the general ledger.
  • Preparation of results pack for presentation to the Board.
  • Act as the subject matter for all accounting and reporting requirements under AASB and IFRS associated with new business transactions.
  • Drive process and system change on an ad-hoc basis.

Key skills and experience: 
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • CA / CPA qualified with a minimum of 5 years’ experience gained in the financial services sector (preference for specific banking sector experience).
  • Proven technical accounting skills - sound knowledge of IFRS accounting standards (IFRS9 highly regarded).
  • Open to a Big 4 CA 1st mover (Audit Manager level and above) with specific Financial Services / Banking sector clients.
  • Working knowledge of financial products (including derivatives and fixed income products).
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • ability to work effectively in a results driven environment coupled with a flair for identifying weaknesses and driving process change and automation.
