Our client, a leading NSW Govermment Department are seeking a Senior Project officer to join their team on a contract based position until the end of the financial year with potential for extension. The successful candidate will be providing advice and support to the Director, deliver responsive change, service improvement and problem resolution to precinct planning in Greater Sydney and on the Central Coast.
The role will be initially working from home before returning to the Parramatta Office. Flexible working from home arrangements.

Key accountabilities
  • Undertake specified regular, formal and informal coordination activities with relevant NSW Government agencies to ensure the Government’s priorities are understood and met in relation to precincts across Greater Sydney and on the Central Coast.
  • Provide advice and support to the Director to advance or resolve issues impacting on communities and achieve positive benefits for each of the precincts.
  • Undertake research to inform the development of strategic planning and prioritisation processes for for each of the precincts and ensure consistency with the Government’s overall priorities and agenda and between related planning tools.
  • Identify and escalate multi-agency issues to the Director to ensure they receive appropriate attention and resolution.
  • Assist in the preparation of high quality written advice in the form of reports, briefs or correspondence to the Director providing information and advice to keep relevant groups informed on key developments and issues.
The role will also work on Policy-based projects with Greater Sydney Precincts, including Precincts portfolio strategy, planning policy, monitoring progress of projects and reporting back to senior stakeholders.

Key knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the environmental, social and economic regional issues facing governments, agencies and communities.
  • Degree-level qualifications as a planner, urban designer or equivelent industry and government experience.
  • Knowledge of the workings of Government, including ministerial roles, agency functions and central agency responsibilities and capacity to achieve results in these contexts. Candidates will also need strong stakeholder management skills.
